My family and yours

Dear Friends,

I am writing to officially announce that I am running for the District 2 seat for the Dallas ISD Board of Trustees this May. I am confident that now is the time for me to serve our district and the greater public education system. As you may know, my time as a physician assistant has allowed me to work with families and children who are many times underserved in our community, allowing me to gain a greater understanding of their needs. Through my work in the medical field, I have also learned to apply critical thinking to the most complex situations and I know that I can apply this experience to the important decisions that the Board of Trustees must make. These experiences and my skill set make me uniquely qualified to serve on the Dallas ISD Board. I am also running because I am the proud mom of a DISD second grader. For me, making decisions for our community’s schools is not theoretical, it is personal. As the District 2 Trustee, I will fight to improve the school district and system that will shepherd my daughter, that will shepherd her peers, and that will shepherd the children that become our community’s future. Today, I am truly ready to fight for my family and yours. Recently, I saw a quote that said, “I still believe public education is the greatest gift this country has,” — I couldn’t agree more. My hope as your Trustee is to ensure that taxpayer dollars are supporting public education, not private schools. I will work to expand Early Childhood Education programs to ensure that our children have opportunities to flourish from the start. As your Trustee, I will support teachers and school administrations in ways that increase morale and thereby retention, and ensure each school maintains quality educators and leadership. I will partner with other Board of Trustee members to request increased funding for our schools, as Texas is currently 38th in funding per pupil. Most of all, I am committed to being a voice for the students, teachers and families that I will serve. I hope that from now through Election Day on Saturday, May 6, I can count on your support. In the most recent election for DISD District 2, the seat was won by only 42 votes; so please know that your vote will count in this election. Please also consider donating to or volunteering with my campaign to help me spread my message across the District. I believe when we invest in our children, we will strengthen not only their future but the future of our community. I hope you will join me.
